KD finger-jointed primed western red cedar is made up of shorter pieces glued together for use in projects like siding, trim, and fascia. It should not be used in applications like decking which have a required level of structural integrity. These finger jointed boards are meant to be primed and painted to cover the checkered pattern that can occur when the naturally varying colors of western red cedar are all joined together. A second coat of primer is recommended to help seal in tannins before applying your topcoat.
